OUR MISSION & ANIMAL CARE

Our Mission

At Bailiwick Animal Park, we believe conservation starts with connection. As a small, family-owned zoo, we are passionate about creating memorable experiences that inspire love and respect for animals of all kinds.

Many of our animals have been rescued or donated and will remain in our care for the rest of their lives. Every visit supports our mission to provide exceptional animal care, promote conservation awareness, and educate future generations about the importance of protecting wildlife.

Our Commitment to Animal Care

At Bailiwick Animal Park, our animals are not exhibits — they are part of our family.

As a privately owned, family-operated facility, we are not state- or city-funded. The care of every animal here is made possible by daily hands-on stewardship, long-term commitment, and the support of our community.

Many of our animals have come to us through rescue, private surrender, or donation. Some arrived from changing life circumstances, others from facilities that could no longer care for them.

We are committed to:

• Providing species-appropriate habitats
• Ongoing veterinary oversight
• Proper nutrition and enrichment
• Safe and respectful guest interactions
• Lifetime care for the animals who depend on us

Their well-being comes first — always.

Because many of our residents are sensitive to weather and environmental changes, certain animals may not be on display during extreme temperatures. Their comfort and health guide every decision we make.

A Living, Growing Commitment

Under third-generation leadership, Bailiwick is entering a new phase focused on thoughtful growth and elevated care standards.

Facility improvements, habitat upgrades, and enrichment enhancements are ongoing — with more planned in the coming years. Our goal is to continue strengthening the environment we provide for the animals who call Bailiwick home.

We believe conservation begins with connection — and connection begins with care.

Our Horsemanship Philosophy

Horses have been at the heart of Bailiwick since its founding in 1963. Our riding stable and equestrian programs are built on the same principles that guide our animal care — respect, partnership, and lifelong responsibility.

We are home to over 40 horses and ponies, each cared for daily with individualized attention, proper conditioning, turnout, veterinary oversight, and thoughtful training.

Whether on the trail, in lessons, or in our training program, the well-being of the horse always comes first. We believe strong horsemanship creates better riders — and better stewards of animals overall.

Ways to Support Our Animals

If you would like to be part of that mission, there are several ways to help:

• Season passes
• Park sponsorship opportunities
• Animal sponsorship programs
• Special events and educational programs
• Donations toward habitat improvements

Every visit and every act of support directly contributes to the daily care of our animals.
